Hiclaro Plugin Registry — hiclaro.app

Effective date: May 17, 2026

This Plugin Developer Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the relationship between Hiclaro (“we”, “us”, “the Platform”) and any individual or entity (“you”, “Developer”, “Plugin Author”) who submits a plugin to the Hiclaro plugin registry.

By submitting a plugin to the Hiclaro registry, you agree to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not submit plugins.

This Agreement supplements the Hiclaro Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, both available at hiclaro.app. In the event of conflict, this Agreement takes precedence for matters specific to plugin publishing.

1. Registration and Identity

To publish a plugin, you must provide:

A valid email address — used for platform communication relating to your submissions, including approval or rejection notifications and any legal or technical matters arising from your plugin. It will not be displayed publicly, shared with other users, or used for marketing.
A display name — this is the public-facing name that appears on your plugin listings in the registry. Choose a name that accurately represents you or your organisation.

By providing your email address, you confirm that it is accurate and that you have the right to use it. You are responsible for keeping your contact information up to date. Contact us at legal@hiclaro.app to update your registered email.

2. Ownership Tokens

Upon successful registration and first plugin submission, you will receive an ownership token. This token:

Is the sole mechanism for proving plugin ownership and authorising future updates
Is displayed once in your browser at submission time — it is your responsibility to save it immediately and securely
Must be kept confidential — do not share it with others
Cannot be recovered if lost — Hiclaro has no mechanism to retrieve or reissue tokens, by design

If you lose your token, you lose the ability to publish updates to the associated plugin. You may submit a new plugin, but the original listing cannot be transferred or recovered.

You must not use a token that belongs to another developer, attempt to guess or brute-force tokens, or exploit the token system in any way.

3. Plugin Submission Standards

By submitting a plugin, you represent and warrant that:

3.1 Ownership and Rights

You are the author of the plugin or have all necessary rights to distribute it
The plugin does not infringe any copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right of any third party
You have the right to grant Hiclaro the licence described in Section 5

3.2 Code Quality and Safety

The plugin does not contain malicious code, backdoors, spyware, ransomware, keyloggers, or any software designed to harm users or their devices
The plugin does not contain obfuscated code designed to conceal its behaviour
The plugin does not exploit vulnerabilities in Hiclaro or third-party systems
The plugin is reasonably stable and does not knowingly cause damage to smart home devices or the user's local network

3.3 Disclosure and Transparency

The plugin's name and description accurately describe its functionality
All external network connections made by the plugin are disclosed in its description — including any cloud services, APIs, or third-party servers the plugin communicates with
Any data the plugin collects, stores, or transmits is disclosed in its description
If the plugin stores credentials or sensitive data, this is disclosed and the storage method is described

3.4 Compliance

The plugin complies with applicable laws, including data protection laws such as the GDPR where applicable
The plugin does not facilitate illegal activity

4. Review Process

Hiclaro reviews submitted plugins for compliance with the standards in Section 3. Our review is intended to catch obvious violations and technical issues. It is not a comprehensive security audit and does not constitute an endorsement or certification of the plugin.

We reserve the right to:

Reject a plugin submission without explanation
Request modifications before approving a submission
Remove a listed plugin at any time if it is found to violate this Agreement or pose a risk to users
Prioritise the review queue at our discretion

Review decisions are made at Hiclaro's sole discretion. We are not obligated to provide detailed feedback on rejected submissions.

5. Licence Grant

By submitting a plugin to the Hiclaro registry, you grant Hiclaro a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

Host and store the plugin files on Hiclaro servers
Distribute the plugin to users through the Hiclaro plugin registry
Display the plugin name, description, and your display name in the registry
Review the plugin's code for compliance with this Agreement

This licence does not transfer ownership of your plugin to Hiclaro. You retain all intellectual property rights in your plugin. This licence continues for as long as your plugin is listed in the registry and terminates upon removal.

6. Plugin Listings and Third-Party Connections

If your plugin connects to third-party services (APIs, cloud services, databases, etc.), you must:

Clearly disclose this in the plugin description, naming the services involved
Ensure users are aware that their data will flow to those third-party services
Comply with the terms of service and developer policies of those third-party services

Hiclaro is not responsible for third-party services your plugin interacts with. You are solely responsible for ensuring your plugin's use of third-party services is lawful and properly disclosed.

7. Data Protection

If your plugin processes personal data (including data about the users' smart home environment, usage patterns, or device information), you are an independent data controller or processor for that data under GDPR.

You are responsible for:

Complying with applicable data protection laws
Providing your own privacy notice to users if your plugin collects personal data
Ensuring any data transfers comply with applicable law

Hiclaro is not a joint data controller for data processed by your plugin.

8. Takedowns and Complaints

If Hiclaro receives a credible complaint that a plugin infringes intellectual property rights, contains malicious code, violates applicable law, or otherwise breaches this Agreement, we will investigate and may remove the plugin promptly.

If your plugin is removed due to a complaint, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you at your registered email address. You may submit a counter-notice if you believe the removal was in error.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hiclaro, its operators, and contributors from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

Your plugin's violation of this Agreement
Your plugin's infringement of third-party intellectual property rights
Harm caused to users by your plugin
Your plugin's non-compliance with applicable law

This indemnification obligation survives termination of this Agreement.

10. Warranties and Disclaimer

You represent and warrant that all information you provide is accurate and that you have the authority to enter into this Agreement.

Hiclaro provides the plugin registry infrastructure “as is”. We do not guarantee uptime, availability of the registry, or that your plugin will receive any particular number of downloads or users.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time. You may request removal of your plugin from the registry by contacting legal@hiclaro.app. Hiclaro may remove your plugin and terminate this Agreement if you breach its terms.

Upon termination, the licence granted in Section 5 ends and Hiclaro will remove your plugin from the registry within a reasonable time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 9, and 12) will do so.

12. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Hungary and applicable European Union regulations. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of competent Hungarian courts.

13. Changes to This Agreement

Hiclaro may update this Agreement from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Hiclaro website with at least 30 days' notice before taking effect. Continued listing of your plugin after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Agreement. If you do not accept the updated Agreement, you may request removal of your plugin by contacting legal@hiclaro.app before that date.
